You're tired of always feeling as if you don't measure up. This isn't even to anyone else's standards, it's your own. You find yourself thinking, "I could do that if I was smarter..." or "I'm not good enough," or "I can't do that until I'm more successful". You want to be enough, but you honestly don't know what "enough" looks like for you. You always feel like you should be doing more. You just know you want to be done with the negative self-talk and the self-doubt. You want to love yourself.
You find yourself avoiding people or situations that bring out your inner critic. Otherwise, you end up comparing yourself to others in your partners' lives or beating yourself up for something you did or said. You want to feel secure in your relationships and stop worrying about "what ifs".
At work, you feel like you're constantly trying to prove yourself. You work hard but rarely get the recognition or validation that you need. You can't shake off the feeling that if you keep working overtime or if you just do one more thing, you can show everyone at work that you are capable. But, that's never enough. It's like trying to fill an empty bucket with a teaspoon: it can't be done. Your inner critic takes over and starts beating yourself up for not doing enough or being good enough. You're ready to be free of it and become a more confident version of yourself, one who can show up at work with strength and courage.
At Manhattan Wellness, we pride ourselves on cultivating a supportive environment that is tailored to your needs. We take the time to fully understand your experiences, challenges, and motivations to create a plan of action. This way, we can help to empower you to become the confident, capable person you are meant to be.
Our Manhattan therapists have worked with many individuals who have struggled with their self-esteem. Before therapy for self-esteem, they felt as if they could never measure up. They felt stuck in a loop of negative self-talk and perfectionism. But with our support, they now know what "enough" looks like for them. They found the confidence to take risks, create healthier relationships with others, and move toward their dreams.
You deserve to be enough for yourself. You deserve to love and accept yourself as you are. The goal of therapy for self-esteem is for you to walk away feeling more confident in seeing a healthy version of yourself. Our clients should walk away feeling empowered that they are capable. That they are more willing to take risks to achieve their goals and potential opportunities.
Our approach to therapy for self-esteem is working together to identify what our clients’ "enough" is. We will also be working together to set attainable goals that are meaningful to the client. The client will work on identifying a healthy view of self by focusing on their strengths instead of just overly focusing on their shortcomings and continuing to let those shortcomings define them.
During our sessions, we will utilize various modalities depending on what fits best for the individual. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Goal Setting, and Psychodynamic type of work. Using these modalities, our clients will work on their cognitive distortions along with their limited thinking patterns, which will help reframe any negative thinking.
By doing so, our clients will be able to view themselves through a more natural, healthy lens. This way, they can shift from a scarcity mindset of figuring out the ways that they "can't" to believing that they can. We believe in the power of you. You have the power to transform your life, and we are here for you - always.
