You're Graduating College Now What?
You were once anxious about transitioning from high school to college, and now it's time for another major transition: graduation. You've spent four years, or more, cultivating your friendships, network, and community and now it's time to move on. Everyone is talking about what jobs they have secured or where they're going to grad school, and you can't help but feel overwhelmed and unsure of your own future. You keep thinking, "But wait...now what?"

Everyone says this is supposed to be the best time of your life—so why doesn’t it feel that way? Maybe you’re still trying to figure out what job is “right” for you or whether graduate school is the right move. You’ve been applying, interviewing, and searching for something that feels meaningful, but nothing seems to check all the boxes. You want a career path that makes you happy and fulfilled, not just one that looks good on paper. And while your family and friends might not fully get it, you wish they could understand what it’s like to feel stuck during what’s supposedly the most exciting chapter of your life. Sometimes, you just want someone—or a group of people—who can relate and help you find your way forward.
Or maybe you've already found your post-college plan, but are feeling anxious about leaving behind the familiar and comfortable routine of college life. You've spent the past four years building the relationships and support system that has helped you get through the challenges of college. Now what? There's no certainty of how these relationships will change, or if you'll be able to maintain them. You worry about losing touch with friends and feeling isolated in a new environment, or that the lack of structure in the “real world” might challenge your current routines. You just want to make sure you're not alone in these feelings.

At Manhattan Wellness, we have worked with many young adults who were struggling with what it means to be a future young professional and what it really means to be on your own.
We know you had independence in college but transitioning into post-grad life brings on a whole new level of responsibility and uncertainty. There was a set schedule and structure, and even the environment was more supportive. The good news is you don't have to navigate this alone. Our experienced and authentic group therapists want to give you the opportunity to continue growing and learning in this new stage of life. While individual therapy is powerful, group therapy can give you the connection and support of others who understand your experience on a deeper level.
While participating in group therapy for college students, you'll gain insight into yourself and your goals, as well as learn valuable coping strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. We know that groups are most successful when everyone feels safe, understood, and heard in session. That's why we believe that when you are surrounded by others going through a similar experience, you can feel less alone and more supported in your journey. Our goal is to guide you towards feeling confident and empowered in your post-grad life, using the support of group therapy as a tool for growth and self-discovery. Allowing you to graduate with the confidence of knowing you can handle whatever comes your way.

College is a time for growth, learning, and development, but that doesn't have to stop at graduation. Joining our group will give you the opportunity to continue that growth and learn to prepare for your post-grad life. It also gives you a community where you are surrounded by peers who are also thinking, "Now what?" and "How do I balance it all?". Meaningful conversation is a big part of group work, but it's not all we offer. We also provide education on coping strategies and resilience building skills to help you thrive in your new chapter and beyond.
Your friends who have been certain from the start might not understand your doubts and concerns. Even your family who have been supportive of you through college might not get why you're feeling anxious about the future now. In group therapy, the group will be facilitated by an experienced therapist who will encourage peer support, normalize and validate what you are going through, and give open and honest feedback to all the members. You'll have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental space and gain insights from others who are also experiencing the same transition. It's a unique form of support that can provide immense comfort during this time of uncertainty.
Our experienced group therapist who leads our Group Therapy for College Students is trained to ensure everyone in the group feels safe and supported. She is experienced in normalizing and validating the struggles that come with post-grad life and is dedicated to creating a space where all members can feel seen, heard, and understood. Our group therapy sessions offer a place to express yourself freely without fear of being judged or misunderstood. You'll have the opportunity to learn from others who are going through similar experiences and gain different perspectives on your own situation. The goal is for you to leave each session feeling more empowered and confident in navigating post-grad life.
Your therapist will guide the group in discussions and activities focused on self-awareness, goal-setting, and coping strategies. All to help you feel empowered and equipped to handle the challenges of post-grad life. She will use this group to help you build a support network outside of your college network, helping clients to build self-esteem, confidence, and support as you become a young professional. These group sessions will highlight common challenges young professionals face when leaving college, including finding a job or career path post-graduation, managing relationships with family and friends, and dealing with the pressures of adulthood. We will dive into specific topics and encourage questions to deepen your understanding and explore solutions together.
