"Enjoy something for what it is, not for what you want it to be"
Niamh is a warm, grounded, and down-to-earth therapist who brings honesty, humor, and a refreshingly real approach to the therapy space. Her style is approachable and conversational, helping clients feel at ease—even when talking about the things that feel hardest to say out loud. She understands that opening up can feel uncomfortable and that meaningful change takes time, creating a space where clients can show up as they are without pressure or judgment.
She believes therapy should feel both supportive and genuine, balancing compassion with thoughtful directness to help clients feel validated while also encouraging growth. Clients often experience her as easy to talk to, insightful, and honest in a way that feels respectful and grounding. She values authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and believes meaningful progress happens when clients feel truly seen and understood.
Niamh also understands that therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it hasn’t felt like the right fit in the past. She encourages open conversations about what clients need and believes therapy should be a space where clients feel comfortable advocating for themselves.
Before becoming a therapist, Niamh began her career in public relations before transitioning into nonprofit and clinical work. She has experience in harm reduction, forensic social work, and violence intervention, working with both survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and individuals who have caused harm. She currently works in New York City hospital settings, supporting individuals experiencing serious mental illness, substance use, and acute psychiatric crises, bringing a grounded and adaptable approach to complex situations.
Niamh’s approach is collaborative, flexible, and rooted in meeting clients where they are. Together, she and her clients build insight into patterns, strengthen emotional awareness, and develop practical tools to support meaningful, realistic change.
Her work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. She has experience working with trauma, PTSD, substance use, anxiety, depression, impulse control, and co-occurring disorders, and incorporates a mind-body perspective informed by her background in medical settings and pain management.
She also brings a holistic lens influenced by her training as a yoga instructor, integrating mindfulness and body-based practices to support resilience and sustainable coping.
Niamh works with adults navigating trauma, relationships, substance use, life transitions, and feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Clients often leave sessions feeling more grounded, clearer, and better equipped to move forward.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?
I love a low pressure start, I set everything up the night before so my mornings can feel simple. I turn on all of my plant growth lights. When I can, I like to incorporate a few sun salutations to wake up (I don't drink coffee or tea, crazy, I know!), but I’ve learned that starting the day in a way that feels realistic and sustainable works best for me.
