"We can't control what feelings we have, but we can control how we react to them."
Mia encourages her clients to be in the driver’s seat of their lives. She is committed to their growth and believes that the client-therapist relationship is paramount to helping achieve desired goals and outcomes.
Clients describe Mia as warm, genuine, non-judgmental, and a great listener. She is invested in her clients’ lives and is committed to the work they are doing together. She acknowledges the difficulties and challenges of sharing intimate details of one’s life and appreciates her clients’ trust in her to be on this journey of healing together.
Change does not come easy and progress is not always linear- Mia understands this very well. She welcomes client exploration based on comfort and readiness, which she believes is key to building a strong therapeutic relationship.
With Mia’s support, her clients can begin to work on aspects of their life that are holding them back from reaching their full potential. Mia creates a safe and collaborative environment for this exploration and serves as a safe sounding board for her clients.
Mia’s approach to therapy is client-centered, meeting clients wherever they are on their journey. She has experience supporting clients through various mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, and personality disorders as well as struggles around self-esteem, life transition, relationships, grief and loss.
A core belief for Mia is that clients are the experts of their own lives and her role as a therapist is to work alongside her clients, standing shoulder to shoulder with them as they work toward improving their life.
Mia’s experience in various mental health settings enables her to support clients in a culturally sensitive and individualized manner.
Focusing on personalized treatment, Mia understands that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. While she draws from various modalities such as person-centered, interpersonal, narrative, DBT, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices, she is sure to check in with clients and collaborate on what they think is and is not working for them in therapy.
Using a holistic approach, Mia acknowledges the importance of mind-body connection and encourages clients to explore ways their body might offer cues as to what they need in that moment, whether it be increased awareness around areas of tension or engaging in grounding practices.
Mia is eager to create a tailored approach for each client with therapy modalities that meet their needs and help them achieve their goals. She is honored to be on the journey to healing with her clients and will be there for them every step of the way.
